Purpose Built Optics - What a Lens-First Approach Actually Feels Like

I'll be honest — I came to Purpose Built Optics through word of mouth. Friends fishing the flats in Texas and Florida kept bringing them up. Not in an ad-speak way. Just the way people talk when something actually works.

So I got a pair. I've been running the Mansfield lens in the Square Grouper frame out here in the Lowcountry — poling skinny water, reading grass edges, picking apart tidal creek structure. A full day on the water. These things never left my face, and that's the real tell.

The Mansfield is built on the same platform as the Chandy but with a slightly higher VLT — brighter sight picture without giving up any of those HD sight fishing characteristics. That balance matters in our water. Clear one stretch, dark and tannic the next. The Mansfield holds up through all of it. Behind that is PBO's SpectraLoc technology — an AI color mapping system that formulates each lens to highlight what actually matters on the water and filter out the rest. Water color, available light, contrast between pockets, potholes, and grass. Every variable dialed in, not guessed at.

The Square Grouper frame stays planted through a full day of poling and casting. No adjusting, no sliding. That kind of all-day comfort only reveals itself when you're actually putting in hours.

That's their whole philosophy — Lens First. Technical eyewear held to a higher standard. The old guard treats glasses like accessories. PBO doesn't.

We're proud to have them as our Premier Optics Sponsor for Round Up No. 3. A small company building something serious. That fits here.
